On Thursday's we are lucky to have Vern Goodall volunteer his time and teach some of the Totara learners how to play indoor bowls. We thought playing bowls would be easy but we have found that it can be quite complicated and it takes a lot of skill to get it right. The bowls are weighted and in order to get it in the right place you need to aim almost in the opposite direction to get it where you want it.
We are hoping to get ready for a competition with some of the other schools around Greymouth. We think it would be a lot of fun!
Hello Totara 2 my name is Savelina from Panmure Bridge school. Looks like a lot of fun playing inside bowls. I can also see that you students and teachers have learnt a lot of things about inside bowls. I haven't played inside bowls myself. Did any of you experience inside bowls before this lesson?
ReplyDeleteTalofa Lava Totara 2,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great opportunity to try something new. I have played indoor bowls too and like you thought it would be easy. I was certainly surprised at how hard it was and our technical. You really have to concentrate on bowling the ball just right to get it to go in the right direction! A competition sounds like heaps of fun. Did you have the time to practice lots? Were there some stars at bowls in your class? When is the competition going to be?
