ANZAC Work

For the last half of the term Totara 2 has been working on an ANZAC topic using our multi-modal site ANZAC Site for literacy and topic. We have been reading, writing and watching videos to use information in our presentations.

These are all a work in progress but please feel free to comment on our work.

Writing

WALT: Write Similes.
As part of our ANZAC topic we are learning to write descriptively. One of the criteria for our recount in the day in the life of a soldier is to use at least two similes in our piece of writing.
Yesterday we got into pairs and practised writing really descriptive similes that we might be able to use in our piece of writing. We did it on a Padlet so we could share our ideas with the class and then maybe we could 'borrow' someone elses because we all know that writers are thieves!

Superstars for Week 8

Check out our Super Stars Yana and Ella who received Key Com certificates in assembly today. Ella received her Key Com for the dedication she puts into completing her tasks to a VERY high standard and Yana received hers for having a superb 'can do' attitude in all curriculum areas. Thank you girls for being such wonderful role models in Totara 2!

Get Writing NZ

This week we have been working on our Get Writing NZ project. We had to complete a poem about ourselves on a postcard and then decorate each postcard in any way we like. We are sharing our writing with a class at Henderson Intermediate in Auckland. Another part of the package was to complete a sheet all about our class. Did you know that in Totara 2 19 people can roll their tongues (Miss Hines is one that can't!) and only 1 student can lick their own elbow?! Also the longest word we know is Raxacoricofallapatorius (thank you Mackenzie Hallberg!) We are really looking forward to receiving our package to learn about another school in New Zealand! #getnzwriting

Maths

This week for maths some of the fantastic Totara 2 and 3 learners have been learning how to find the perimeter of a shape. We are hoping that we can get outside next week and find the perimeter of the field, the court area and even some of the plots in the garden!

Hall of Fame

Come down and check out Totara 2 and 3's Hall of Fame. These students are our role models who put their hands up and go the extra mile to help out around the school. We couldn't do all the extra things at Grey Main without these children. Thank you for being such spectacular role models!
