Reading
We have been continuing to read Kensuke's Kingdom for reading. Our activity was to work in groups to come up with 6 essential items that we would like to have if we were on a deserted island and give explanations as to why we chose these items. We all used great team work and Miss Hines was really impressed with the cooperation we showed in our group work. Click the links below to see our choices and our justifications.

Buddy Reading With Room 8
This week Room 8 came to Room 17 with their reading books. We created a Google Slide using the text from their reading books and then helped the Room 8 children create a Screencastify of them reading. Here is a perfect example from Cal and Jake.
Here is another cool example from Holly and Aimee.
Great work guys!

Trading
Today the teachers from Shantytown came to our school and we learnt about the trading and bartering that happened between the Maori tribes and the Pakeha in the early settlers days. We we all parts of different groups and we had a great time 'acting'.

Homework Poetry By Mya
Mya has also been practising using Screencastify for her home learning. She has done a fantastic job. Listen carefully and see if you can hear the two things that made me laugh! Well done Mya!
Didgeridoo ~ By Caitlin
Caitlin has been busy practising the skills Miss Panther taught us on how to use Screencastify. She copied her poem that she had written into a Google Slide, made it look fantastic and completed her home learning by using Screencastify. Ka Pai Caitlin!
