Propagating Plants!

Today Rueben taught us how to propagate plants. He showed us the steps we need to take in order to grow new plants from 'mother plants'.
After Rueben showed us we went back to class and wrote some instructions to share with the Year 7's. Here's what we came up with...

Step One: Find the node (The node is a bobble where the two leaves come out of the stem)
Step Two: Cut the stem just below the node
Step Three: Pull one leaf off, making sure you don't damage the node
Step Four: Cut the stem on the opposite angle to the leaf that has just been removed
Step Five: Dip the end of the stem into rooting hormone
Step Six: Make a finger hole in river sand (It has to be river sand because it is neutral. Beach sand contains salt and soil has too much bacteria growing in it)
Step Seven: Carefully place the cutting into the sand
Step Eight: Spray the cutting with water (This has to be done because the cutting has no roots and it is unable to get moisture from the ground)
Step Nine: Cover with plastic
Step Ten: Spray the cutting everyday. Roots will soon grow and once they have, the cuttings are able to be planted in soil and new plants will grow!

Year 6 Gardening

While the Yr 7's are off at technology at the High School we have decided that us Yr 6's are going to get stuck into gardening and help make the school garden flourish and look extra pretty! Check out our photos of us getting stuck into potting and planting daffodils and tulips! Wait until they flower!
Mr B explaining what we need to do...
Asher's in charge!

Our garden is starting to look fantastic! Thanks Mr B! We love it!

Role Model Writing Continued...

My Dad is my role model because he has
Got a good job. He cooks tea every night.
We spend most of our weekends fishing
And hunting or on holiday he is kind to
everybody and that is why I would want
to be just like him when I am older.

My mum is a role model.
My mum is one of the best people in my life. She makes my bed whitch is very helpful if you’re me. If I’m luckey I can go to the shop with at least ($10) dollars. When I go to school she does all my washing and makes my dinner when I’m hungry. Without my mum I would not be here because I would have starved to death and that would not be cool.
I love my mum.

My nana
I love my nana because she picks me up from school when I am at my dads. Then she goes to my other nana house and makes sure she is ok and then takes me to trainings for soccer and league. She is loving and gives me chips after school and she is very nice.
