Brighter Money

In Room 17 we have been looking at New Zealand's new bank notes. In our learning teams, we created a Padlet to show our new learning. We think the new money is definitely better and brighter!

Buddy Classes

On Friday, Room's 17 and 8 teamed up to share what we have been learning and doing in class. Room 17 really enjoyed showing the children in Room 8 how to use the Chrome books and their on line learning. Thanks for sharing your work with us Room 8 and we'll see in you in two weeks time!

Science

Today we got to complete two more Science experiments. The first one was called 'Walking Water' where we had three cups. One had coloured water in it, one was empty and the other one had a different colour in it. We then folded two paper towels and placed them in the cups and made sure that one end from each cup went into the empty cup. We started to watch what happened as the water travelled up the paper towel and wrote down our observations and hypothesis.
We can't wait to see what happens tomorrow!

Our second experiment was called 'Bending Water' and we blew up a balloon and rubbed it on our heads. We then put the balloon near a stream of water from the tap and watched the water bend and move away.

Warter, Water Everywhere!

Today Rooms 17 and 18 had some fun with water and completed 3 science experiments. They were given the instructions of how to complete the experiment and the equipment but nothing else. Once their group completed the experiment, they had to go away and write their observations (what they saw) and a hypothesis (why they think that the water or object did what it did). Next they are going to learn the science behind each experiment. Check out their blogs in a couple of days to see what happened to the water and perhaps you could try these experiments at home too!

Life Education

Today Room 17 had their first session with Carmen and Harold in the Life Education truck. We are learning how to be good citizens both in the real world and in the digital world!

History House

As part of our West Coast topic some of Room 17 and 18 went down to History House to do some research. If you haven't been down there, it is a must! It's only $2 per child and you may even get to find some information on your family!
